1. What education have you undertaken to this point in your career?

I did my BSc Hons in Biomedical Science in NUIG (now University of Galway) where I specialised in Physiology. Following this I did my MSc in Human Movement Science: Sports & Nutrition at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

2. What experience have you accumulated in the field of performance nutrition?

Following graduation I worked with some local GAA clubs around Galway and also began to implement nutritional education at Renmore Gymnastics Club where I also coach. I also had the pleasure of leading nutritional workshops for the U18 Leinster Rugby Women’s Summer Programme. More recent positions I now hold are the performance nutritionist for the Galway Senior Camogie Team and Clare Senior Football team.

3. What one piece of advice would you offer aspiring performance nutritionists or sports dieticians?

Develop, build and maintain solid connections and relationships. A common attribute in all performance nutritionists and sports dietitians is that they are passionate about what they do and are willing to share their advice to other upcoming graduates or practitioners. Always be hungry to continuously learn, particularly from the people around you from the entire MDT and other practitioners.
